Deacon Johnny Barthell Jr.

On November 27,1945 Mr. Johnny Bernard Barthell Jr. was a bundle of blessings born to the Late Mr. Johnny B Barthell Sr. and the late Mrs. Essie Lee Willis Barthell in Sumter County Ga. Mr. B or JB as he was affectionately known answered his call to our Father in Heaven after a lengthy illness on April 5, 2020 in the arms of his wife. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a early age of The Mountain Creek A.M.E church in Andersonville Georgia. Later united with the Hunter Hill 1st Missionary Baptist Church of Atlanta Georgia. Where he served diligently as Chairman and Vice Chair of The Deacons Ministry until his call home to Glory. JB graduated from Sumter County high school and pursued his education at St. Leo College, Business Admin. Technical Tng Ctr, Accident Investigator and Claims, Georgia Inst. of Real Estate. Wm F. Bolger Mgt. Academy and PEDC, Vehical Operations Analyst. He was one of the first black men to ever drive for Rodeway Express. The first black manager of a Family Dollar in Americas Ga. A retired honorable veteran of the United States Air Force with many accolades and Retiree of the United States Postal Service. Johnny B, was the Patriarch of his family, the eldest child. Illustrious he truly was and well respected by most who was blessed to come through his life. His passion in life was protecting his entire family. A very articulate person. He loved his wife “Beverly” unconditionally. And believe it “Beverly Barthell loved her Johnny”.The two were inseparable. She is the Apple of his Eye. He often would tell her, “Baby girl your something else”. “I Love you with all my heart”, even until his last words. He enjoyed his life together with her traveling the World, with the World Travelers Group they originated on their anniversary. Johnny was truly a dapper, a very proficient card player, he enjoyed all sports and western movies. His daughter Mrs.Deltra Barthell Lundy preceded him in death along with his sisters Mrs. Mary Barthell Forbes , Mrs.Delores Barthell Terry and his brother Mr.Bobby L. Barthell. Cherishing his life’s journey and grateful memories, loving and devoted wife and best friend of 38 years. His caring and loving children Mrs. Shawn ( Charles ) Harrison-Muff of Richland Georgia, Mrs. Vanessa ( John ) Ndisika, Ms. Deirdra Barthell of Americas Georgia. Ms. Shahidha Pates of Stockbridge Georgia. MSgt DeQuan (Yareli) Barthell of Puyallup Washington, Mr. Johnny Barthell III of Carrollton Georgia. His God Given Nephew/Son Mr. Randy Barthell Forbes. His 10 adored grandchildren, JC , Skylla, Allan, Jamie, Lakel, Deja, Dene, Dakarai aka DJ, Bryaney, Saadiyah. His loving (9 ) great-grandchildren. God Son’s, Mr. Terrence Moultry Cleveland Ohio, & Mr. Tywan Moultry of Atlanta Georgia and one God daughter Audrey Tell Smith. His supportive and loving sisters, Mrs. Francis (Walter) Manners of Athens Georgia, Mrs. Minnie ((Elder Bennie) Clark of Americas Georgia, Mrs. Gloria ( WIllie) English of Americas Georgia, Mrs. Clara (Karzell) Robinson of Stockbridge Georgia, Mrs. Marsha (Rev. Robert) Angrish, and Ms Trellis Barthell all of Americas Georgia . His caring brother Mr. Gregory Barthell of Raliegh North Carolina. His supportive, loving and caring God mother Mrs. Ethel Tigner.
