Sherryl Jackson

Sherryl Shirley Jackson was born on May 25, 1968, in Gretna, Florida, to the late Eugene Shirley and BettyJean Coleman. On August 24, 2026, Sherryl was called home to be with the Lord. Sherryl accepted Christ into her life at an early age, beginning a faith journey that remained an important part of her life. In the 1990’s, she joined St. Paul Methodist Church, where she faithfully served in many capacities, including as a member of the Usher Board, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir. A graduate of Shanks High School in Quincy, Florida, Class of 1986, Sherryl was a gifted student athlete and track star. The determination and strength she carried as a young woman would remain evident throughout her life. Sherryl devoted more than 30 years of service to Northeast Georgia Health Systems, beginning her career with the organization in 1994. For approximately 20 years, she worked in long-term health care at New Horizons West, where she served in several capacities throughout her tenure, including Certified Nursing Assistant, Restorative Nursing Assistant, Medical Records and Supply Clerk, Department Secretary, and Staffing Coordinator. She later continued her service with Northeast Georgia Health Systems as a Unit Secretary in Outpatient Infusion, the role she held at the time of her passing. Her career was more than a reflection of longevity. It spoke to her dedication, adaptability, and commitment to caring for and supporting others. Across more than three decades, Sherryl became a familiar and valued presence to the patients, families, colleagues, and communities she served. But Sherryl’s life cannot be measured simply by the years she worked or the positions she held. Sherryl was a beautiful and kind spirit—a woman whose strength was accompanied by grace. She loved deeply, gave generously of herself, and carried a quiet resilience throughout her life. To those who knew and loved her, Sherryl was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a source of love and strength. The life she built and the love she gave will continue through the family she cherished. Sherryl leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 27 years, Andrew Jackson; her children: Shamekkia, Brandon, Tiara, DJ, and Trey; and her five grandchildren: Layla, Nasir, Jaxon, Novah, and Zakai. She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Ronald Shirley, Angela Moon, Veronica Shirley-Scott, Brian Shirley, and Tiffany Shirley; her mother-in-law, Donna Westbrooks; father-in-law, Andrew Jackson Jr.; brother-in-law, Corey Moon; sister-in-law, Andrea Jackson; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Quentin Shirley. Sherryl’s presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain with those who loved her. Her family will carry her with them always.
