Billie Morris

Billie Jean Morris, preferred spelling (Billye), was born in Gainesville, GA on December 2, 1940. She graduated high school from Carver High in Miami Florida around 1958. Several years later she moved back to her hometown Gainesville, GA. She was married to Billie Ray Morris for about 20 years. A dedicated mother first and foremost, she was a fierce ‘Mama Bear’ and always acted in a manner to protect her children. Billye provided a stable home for her children. She worked multiple jobs to ensure children had a decent life. She aspired for her children to have a better life and encouraged and supported their military and college endeavors. Billye worked at Warren Featherbone for many years, a line leader at Piedmont Laboratories, and worked as home health aid in her younger years. Billye enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends. She liked watching movies. She loved to talk and engage in lengthy conversations. She loved plants, flowers, and working in her garden. As a homemaker, Billye enjoyed collecting ceramic and porcelain figurines, beautiful pottery, exotic décor, and loved cooking Sunday dinner and baking cakes. Billye was a very sentimental mother. She treasured and saved many of her birthday and Mother’s Day cards that were given to her throughout the years. She also loved poems, often clipped and displayed meaningful ones that were special to her around her home. After her death, it was discovered Billye secretly made monthly donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a tradition that will be continued by her family. Billye transitioned peacefully in her sleep, laying in her bed when the lord took her by the hand and welcomed her HOME. Billye was preceded in death by her father John Henry Harris and mother O’dessa Harris; Siblings June Harris, James Harris, William Harris, and Charles Harris; and Nephew Stacy Millsap. Billye was survived by her son Bobby Morris and daughter Lisa Cleveland; Sister Annie Ruth Millsap; Grandchildren Maurice Imes, Khalye Cleveland, Taden Cleveland, and Ashlyn Cleveland; Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews: Special friends Emma Allan and Brenda Ware; and Other friends and family.
