Glenda Diane Summerour Short’s journey began May 8, 1951 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA to the late Lillian and Samuel Summerour Jr. After a courageous month-long battle, she reached out for God’s unfailing hand on December 31, 2020 at Emory Hospital, Atlanta GA. God saw that she had grown so weary and so weak and he decided to give her rest. Diane attended School in Jackson MI, Linwood Park School in Atlanta GA and in St Louis MO where she met and married Riley Short. They lived in St Louis MO a while before returning to Atlanta GA. Over the years Diane had several jobs including attending Bartenders School and Cosmetology. She also worked at The Kodak Co, Southside Health Care and Georgia Retardation Center. Diane adored her Children, Nathaniel, Partee’ and Tywan. She was all about Family unity and she was extremely generous and always tried to help everyone. She was a nurturer and loved loving on the children - Everyone’s Children. Diane was Fashionable, a Trend-setter and very Flamboyant. She loved to travel and learn new things. Diane loved all kinds of music, from R&B, Rap, Jazz, Blues and Hip Hop. She usually could not only sing the songs she could also name the Artist that was singing. She was adamant about saving your Money and your Credit so that you can enjoy the finer things in life. She was always on the lookout for a good bargain even if it was a Seafood Special because she loved to eat out. Diane attended many Churches over the years trying to find a church home, but she joined Carters Temple AMEZ Church in Monroe GA, following her favorite Uncle, Rudolph (Doy) Summerour who loved the church and wanted everyone to join. Glenda Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Jr and Lillian Summerour and her Stepmother Wynona, also a Brother Calvin and Sister Rene. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Partee’, Sons Nathaniel and Tywan all of Atlanta GA. Her Grandchildren; Dexter Brown ll, Damien (Andrea) Summerour, Nathaniel Summerour Jr (Chrystal), ShaKayla Summerour, Miquel Short, Jasmin Short, Mykiah Glen, Taylor Fowler, Tyler Joiner. Great Grandchildren: Skylar, Damiya, Chloe, and Naomi Summerour. She also had a special place in her heart for Louise Short. Her Bonus Grandchildren; Shakeem, Lamarcus and Kimberley Fowler, Jeremy Patrick, Adriane & Adriana Short. Her Siblings whom she cherished; Brothers Harold (Jan) of Del City OK, Samuel and James both of Jackson MI, Sisters Rebecca of Aspen CO, Sharon, Celia, and Rochelle of Jackson MI. Her Godson Darious Powell of Atlanta GA and she was especially close and best friends to Sister/Cousins Caroline (Niecy) Powell of Stone Mountain GA, De Borah (Debbie) Vaughn of Lansing MI, Jan Clark of Jackson MI and Trina Turner of Atlanta GA, Brother/Cousins Gary Summerour of Atlanta GA, Roy Lee Anthony of Detroit MI and a host of Cousins and Friends who are all special to Diane. Diane loved life and was always positive. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
