Annice Young

Annice Young was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1953, in Hall County, Georgia. She departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2026, peacefully in her home. Annice was preceded in death by her parents: Nora Young and Charlie Johnson, her brother: Charlie Johnson Jr., two uncles: Noble (Biggie) Young and Robert (Bo) Young, three aunts: Maddie (Bunt) Osborne, Betty Sue Randolph, and Mary Jo Young, one nephew: Tony M. Harrison Jr., and life-long friend: Mandy Bell. Annice is survived by two brothers: Doug Young and Paul (Gloria) Wilmont, two sisters: Margie Sue Randolph, and Sharon (Tony) Wilmont-Harrison, two nephews: Mantevius Rucker and Darius Harrison, five nieces: Consuela (Woody) Woodberry, Crystal (Jay) Malcolm,Tiffany Young, and Monica (Greg) Jackson, her loving Fiancé: Dean Schille, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and especially friends. Annice is also survived by a group of dear friends as close as family: Debbie Lord, Donna Rice, David Schille, and godsons Jesse Prado and Jonathan Johnson. Annice graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971 as a member of the 2nd graduating class after integration. At Gainesville High, Annice was the first black captain of the drill team. She was also a cheerleader, participated in Beta Club and participated in the Lady’s in Waiting program where she learned proper manners and how to carry herself. Using those skills, Annice won the Little Black Miss Hall County Beauty Pageant while in high school. After high school, Annice attended the Hall County School of Nursing and earned her associate’s degree in nursing in 1974. She later went back to school while working in Atlanta to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Annice worked as a registered nurse in several hospitals including Lanier Park, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Emory, and St. Joseph’s. She retired from both St. Joseph’s and Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Annice also attended the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Atlanta. Annice was a professional model on and off throughout her younger years, working for places like Davidson Department Store and other businesses around Atlanta. Annice was deeply involved in supporting her community during her life. As a member of Sunshine Club, Annice helped feed hungry people throughout our community. Annice was also a member of the Newtown Florist Club where she stood with others for social and economic justice. Annice also believed strongly in exercising our right to vote and worked in voting rights activism for more than 40 years. She also gave back to the young women in our community by running the Lady’s in Waiting program that she benefitted from in school – continuing the legacy. In her free time, Annice had several hobbies. She was a talented knitter. Just about everyone in Annice’s life has a blanket she knitted personally for them. She also had a green thumb and could bring back anyone’s dying plant from the brink of death. Her yard was always one of the most beautiful in the county. And of course, everyone enjoyed her incredible home cooking. Her Mexican cornbread and her ribs were the talk of the town. Annice was a pillar of our community and leaves a community in grief behind her, but there is comfort in knowing everyone who was touched by Annice in this life is better off for having known her: exactly the way she would have wanted.
