Carolyn Ann Hamilton

Carolyn Ann Hamilton was born on July 15, 1946, in Gainesville, Georgia. Carolyn was the only daughter of two children, born to the late James Hamilton and Mother Lucile Whelchel-Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother James Harold Hamilton. Carolyn attended Fair Street High School where she was a scholar and athlete and later obtained her GED through the Butler High Night School Program. She was employed with the Gainesville City School System and worked at Northeast Georgia Medical Center until retirement. She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove CME Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her community involvement includes being a member of the Class of 2000 Note Singers Group, performing across Gainesville-Hall County at various requested locations. She was affectionately known as the family babysitter, and given the endearing name Mommu, welcoming all children so they could have a safe place to stay until their parents returned. Signature meals that we will miss mama’s hands preparing, include Mac-n-Cheese, homemade biscuits, homemade dressing, creamed corn, collard greens, Chitterlings, and do not forget her finger-licking good Peach Cobler. Carolyn leaves to cherish her precious memory, her three children, Rev. Darryl (Jaqulyn) Lyle of Oakwood, GA, Patrick (Evelyn) Hamilton of Navarre, FL, Vadale (Sylvester) Johnson of Mulberry, GA. Her grandchildren: Christena Hopkins, Christian Hamilton, Ernest Davis, IV, Skyler (Joel) Dix, Peyton Hamilton, Kaden Hamilton, Shannon (Raphael) Wise, Adairus (Brian) Gardner, and Chanel (Quenton) Ash. Her great-grandchildren: Kamryn Hopkins, Kai Dix, Kapri Dix, Christian Bess, Jaden Wise, Kennedy Dix, and Khloe Dix, a host of endearing special cousins: Chase, Britny Trammel, Bobby, Demita Hamilton, Michael Hamilton, Dawn, Ricky Johnson, Keisha Hamilton, Tiffany Hamilton-Sweatt, Caleb Hamilton, Tywonna Whelchel-Payne, Michele Whelchel-Williams, Shantel Marshall, Carmen Mays, Deborah Goudelock, Christopher Goudelock, Linda Carruth, Chadale Whelchel, Niviea Williams, Tony Whelchel, Betty Whelchel, Trina Singleton, Eugene Whelchel, Ricky, Jimmy Whelchel, Lena Whelchel, Nichole Whelchel, Lazondra Whelchel, Bud Whelchel, Cynthia Satterlee, Andrea Whelchel, Dorothy Whelchel, Deborah Whelchel, Tess Whelchel, Montine Young, and the rest of my Whelchel, Mays, Jackson, Mack Family, and her special friends: Betty Butts, Sharon Thompson-Adams, Carolyn Hester, and Beatrice Roper.
