Harvey Charles Canty Sr

Harvey Charles Canty, Sr. was born in Dayton, OH to Harvey “June” and Lena Bryant Canty. He departed this life Friday, January 7, 2022. He attended Dayton Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Rosevelt High School (‘68). He also attended Sinclair Community College. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years where he served as a chef. He was a retired employee of the Dayton Veterans Administration (VA) with over thirty years of service. Harvey joined and was a faithful member of the Greater Damascus Baptist Church in Dayton, OH where he was Ordained a Deacon and was an active member of the Media Ministry. In his later years he was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA until the time of his death. He was a member of several clubs and organizations most notably were the traveling “Van” Clubs. Harvey played the trumpet. He was a family man and enjoyed family gatherings and time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to old school and jazz music. He looked forward to the annual Trayvick family reunion where he and Johnny would sit, talk and listen to music for hours on end. Harvey was proceeded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lena B. Canty, sister June Carter, brothers Albert and Dennis Canty, daughters Twymetta K. Trayvick and Amanda L. Judkins. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of over 45 years Marjorine T. Canty, sons Michael F. Judkins and Emmanuel W. Judkins of Columbus , OH Bishop-Designate Harvey C. Canty, Jr. (Hope) of McDonough, GA, Daughter Karen Trayvick of McDonough, GA Grandchildren Sanyelle Stephens (Willie), Willie Wilkes, LaShaunda Blanton (Ricky), Antwan Gaines, Angel Metcalf (John), Antonio Spencer, Shaniquia Cook, Natia Blue (Wendell), Ty’Nisha Coley, Amia Coley, Emanuel W. Judkins, Jr., Shemiah Judkins, David Judkins, Judah Judkins, Joshua Judkins-Grant, Sophia Hull, Chyrah Canty, Harvey C. Canty, III, Chyrish Canty, D’Angelo Trayvick and Tierny Blanton. Sister Janet Cruz of Miami, FL and Brother Jeffery Canty of Dayton, OH. Sisters-in-law Annie R. Finklea, Gladys Souder, Berdia Minor, of Dayton, OH, Earnestine Watts and Mary J. Hall of Los Angeles, CA. Brothers-in-law Johnny C. Trayvick (Sharon) of Phenix City, AL and Louis C. Trayvick (Arlene) of Madison, AL. Twenty-five great-grand children, host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
