Luther Sanford Morrison

Mr. Luther Sanford Morrison aka Bibb was born January 8, 1945 in Jackson County- Hoschton, GA. He was the 6th child born to the late Mrs. Mildred Alberta & Mr. Willie Virgil Morrison. He departed this earthly life to begin eternal life Friday, March 27, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones at home. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, SSGT. Donald E. Morrison, his sister and brother in law Mr. and Mrs. Benny(Mary Alice) Algee, Brother in laws- Mr. Cleo Davis & Mr. Harvey Newton, and his Sister in Law- Mrs. Charlotte Morrison Luther was educated in Jackson County and is a 1964 graduate of Bryan High School in Jefferson, GA. After graduation Luther was drafted to the military where he served 4 + years in the USAF- which included time spent in Thailand. Upon returning home, he attended Lanier Technical College where he received his HVAC diploma on September 24, 1971. He worked as a GA State Licensed HVAC Technician for more than 40 + years- 37 of those years at Lawson Heating and Plumbing in Gainesville, GA- a career he truly loved. Luther retired from Lawson’s in 2010. Luther was an excellent repairman- not just HVAC- he could repair anything. He often made repairs with little or no compensation and was known throughout all surrounding counties for his service to others and his technical knowledge. His service to his former church- Wesley Chapel was his proudest work. Not only did he give his time and talent but he freely gave his all, including finances and unconditional service. No project or repairs were too big for Luther when it came to his church, family, and friends. His dedication to the Youth and Sunday School was matchless. He was chairman of the Steward board and a Lay Servant in the United Methodist Conference. He attended the annual meeting in Athens, GA as a delegate to the NGUMC Conference many times before Wesley Chapel Church withdrew from the Conference. On October 24, 2021 Wesley Chapel Church dedicated a special part of the service to honor Dea. Luther S. Morrison for his “ many acts of service” to/for the church. Luther was always willing to help anyone and everyone - even those he knew couldn’t pay or wouldn’t pay- he knew the Lord, and was a servant of the most High. Bro. Morrison also served as City Councilman for the City of Hoschton in the early 80’s- a city he Loved and never left. Bibb loved watching football with his brother and cousins and always loved the Falcons. He also enjoyed eating out with his friends and family. Survivors include his Wife and Soulmate of 45 years (married June 21, 1980) Mrs. Mary P. Sims Morrison, His 3 Daughters- Ms. Jennifer Morrison, Ms. Joy N. Morrison, and Mr. and Mrs. Kavin (Missy) Sutton. 2 Step Daughters- Mr. and Mrs. Torrass (Kimberli) Stephens, and Ms. Sonya Thomas. Three Grandsons- Canaan Morrison, Caleb Morrison, and Darius Bailey. One granddaughter- Kendalyn Journee Gresham and 3 great grandchildren, Brother- Mr. Douglas Morrison, Sisters- Mrs. Annie Grace Davis, Mrs. Joyce Newton, Brother in Law- Mr. and Mrs. Herman(Mable) Sims, 6 Sister in Laws, Mrs. Mattie C. Morrison, Ms. Emma Sims, Ms. Annette Sims, Ms. Eloise Sifford, Mrs. Louise B. Sims, Mrs. Ida B Sims. Special Cousins- Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Phyllis) Edmond, Mr. and Mrs. Charles ( Marsha) Camp, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert(Betty) Bonds. Special Family- The Smith, Long, and Wilmont families, and many special nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Special Caregivers- Mr. Larry, and Ms. Joy Nicole (Registered Nurse) To God be the Glory! Luther was a man of integrity, a proud husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be missed tremendously.
